The funeral of Terence MacSwiney (1920)

Fascinating footage of the funeral of Terence MacSwiney in Cork in 1920. Elected as Sinn Fein Lord Mayor of Cork during the Irish War of Independence, MacSwiney was arrested for sedition and imprisoned in Brixton. There he began a hunger strike in protest at his internment. He died after 74 days in October 1920.
